Twin Falls, Idaho · a table since 1998

Prasai's: authentic Thai cuisine, graciously served.

That line sat at the top of this site for years, and nobody has written a better one since. Rick and Prasai (Amm) Johnson opened their first Thai kitchen in downtown Twin Falls in 1998 — and the cooking never stopped: Prasai's serves today from Fillmore Street in north Twin Falls.

Since 1998

One kitchen, twenty-plus years, one town

Prasai (Amm) Johnson, a native of Thailand, built the menu the old way — traditional spices, fresh ingredients, over a hundred dishes, heat adjustable “from very mild to intense.” Rick Johnson ran the business side from the downtown room at 428 2nd Ave. East. Between them they gave Twin Falls its Thai table: Paht Thai and Shuu-Shee Salmon, Laab and Thom Kah Gai, spring rolls by the thousand.

The town noticed. In 2015, Times-News readers voted Prasai's the “Best Asian Restaurant” in Twin Falls, and the kitchen's vegetarian cooking took the “Best Vegetarian Entrees” Silver award the same year.

The rhythm barely moved in twenty years. In the 2008 era the downtown room ran Monday to Thursday 11am–9pm, Fridays to 10, Saturdays from noon; later both rooms settled into the Mon–Sat 11–9 week with Sundays dark. Delivery went out on a fifteen-dollar minimum — weekday lunches and every evening — and the print-friendly menus were kept current for years, the last archived editions dated September 2019. Consistency was the whole trick: the same tagline, the same phone numbers, the same standards, year after year, two decades running.

The same craft, with different furniture

This site is kept by hosts, and we keep more than the story. What Prasai's models — hosting people well, night after night, for decades — is the discipline the short-term-rental world runs on too. So alongside the history, we test the companies and tools that do that work across southern Idaho, and hold them to a kitchen's standard.

On the management side, our benchmark is One Fine BnB; on the software side, BnBGenius. Twenty brands ranked in each category, every one reviewed on its own page.

The method is the restaurant's, borrowed whole. A kitchen judges a supplier on consistency, on what the invoice actually says, and on who answers when a delivery goes wrong at the worst hour — so that is how we judge managers and tools. We put published pricing above promises (our benchmark publishes see the numbers — two tiers, 20% full service or 10% partner, plus a one-time onboarding retainer), we test software on live listings through real turnovers, and we write down what held up. Nobody pays for a place on the shortlist — the same way no supplier ever bought its way onto Prasai's menu.

An independent table, set by hosts

The Host's Table is an independent editorial site: we preserve the Prasai's story from the restaurant's own archived pages, and we publish host-side reviews under a public rubric. We are not the restaurant — for dinner, call Fillmore Street. For everything else, meet the team, read how we test, or start at the beginning.
